As the Indianapolis Star was getting ready to publish its 2016 investigation, the group issued a press release: "Nothing is more necessary to USA Gymnastics, the Board of Directors and CEO Steve Penny than protecting athletes, which requires sustained vigilance by everyone-coaches, athletes, parents, administrators and officials. We're saddened when any athlete has been harmed within the course of his or her gymnastics career".
